Naomi van Gorkum has been a valued colleague at LAB Services for over 7 years. Throughout her career, she has positioned herself as someone who approaches her work with confidence and reliability. In her role as service and sales support, she ensures that tasks are completed carefully and on time. We spoke with Naomi to learn more about her interests and what motivates her both inside and outside of work. Read on and discover what inspires her!
- Which word best describes you and why?
The word that best describes me is reliable. When a colleague entrusts me with a task, I make sure it is completed on time and with care. They can count on me because I take responsibility and keep my commitments.
- What hobby would you start if time and money were no object?
At the moment, I unfortunately don’t have time for golf, but it remains a hobby I really enjoy. As soon as my schedule allows, I definitely want to pick it up again. Golf gives me relaxation, challenge, and the opportunity to be outdoors. Although it's on the back burner right now, I’m sure I'll get back on the course with enthusiasm in the future!
- What’s your secret for staying focused at work?
I stay focused by breaking my tasks into smaller chunks, setting clear goals, and creating a quiet workspace.
- What were you really good at in school that still helps you today?
To do my job efficiently, I learned how to plan well and manage my time wisely. I set clear deadlines and prioritize tasks. This helps me work in a structured way, stay productive, and maintain a good work-life balance.
- Do you have a motto or saying that you often use or follow?
“Strive for progress, not perfection.”
I think this motto suits me because it encourages me to focus on small steps of progress rather than getting stuck in the pressure of perfection, which can often be a hindrance.
- Which experience from your previous job helps you a lot in your current role at LS?
My experience in teamwork, customer-focused communication, and multitasking helps me a lot in my current role.
- What could you present effortlessly and without preparation?
I could effortlessly present about holidays and fashion because I have a great interest in both. For holidays, I can talk about my favorite destinations, travel tips, and special experiences. Fashion appeals to me with trends, styles, and combining outfits.
- Which hobby makes you completely lose track of time?
A recent hobby I’ve started is photography. I enjoy capturing beautiful moments, such as special vacation destinations and cherished times with my children.
- What does your perfect workplace look like?
A tidy and organized workspace helps me focus better and work more productively. By avoiding clutter and unnecessary items, I get distracted less and can fully concentrate on my tasks.
- What can you really enjoy?
I really enjoy making beautiful trips. Finland and Lapland are high on my wish list. The vast nature, the Northern Lights, and the unique atmosphere seem amazing, and I would love to experience that someday. That would be incredible.
